Breaking Down Swaim's Game

I love getting a mauler who can sneak in a couple dumps a game. Great pick up IMO.

Sounds like an extremely competent TE. I like how confident his coaches are about his abilities. Hope this staff doesn't give up on using him just a little in the passing game. Seems like a guy that can help take the running game to the next level though. Good pick up.

I would be willing to 'bet the house' that our stable of RBs are excited about what
Swaim adds to the run game...plus, no LBs or safeties can 'go to sleep' on him as
a viable check-down just as will be Gray and others...NO doubt this will be a plus
for our pass game & Harsin obviously knows this...

We have NOT had a blocking TE who has good hands in a very long time,
so I share others excitement about what Swaim brings to the table!

Texas is acquiring players with a physical, nasty attitude at a rapid clip. I like it. A lot.

Why couldn't he transfer in for this season? Does the NCAA have a requirement that jucos play 2 years?

I could be wrong but i didnt think there was a minimum number or classes(just means if he will come in as a Fr or Soph or Jr). i think its more about the grades(not saying Swaim has any grade issues, i have no idea).

just like you, i want want players w/ the "i'm going to beat your @$$" attitude. someone angry and hungry. ON the field that is. this is not this fAG SWAG lame movement in College Station. It's more of, "don't look over here again, or you won't like it."

If you're right about the "why" then someone needs to rinse the sand out. Someone much smarter than me once said football is a game played by angry men. Texas has been missing this attitude, on the field, too often the past few years. I am very pleased that the staff seems to be once again placing a premium on that character trait in recruiting.

I think Othe old Oline coach gave the down vote. Doesn't like blockers with a chip on their shoulder.

This may be too pie in the sky since we haven't seen him in the position yet, but I am sort of hoping that Bluiett plays that role this year allowing DJ Grant and McFarland to hit the seam and catch the ball downfield. Ideally both or one of Grant and McFarland learn to block DEs this fall and can be dual threat so that we can have them on the field the whole time along with a better blocker. But if Bluiett could serve the role of a good blocker -- he certainly has the attitude -- and someone to whom Ash could dump the ball we might already have a partial answer on campus.

Have to see it to believe it, of course.

ETA: Plus, that allows Poehlman to return to tackle. We need tackles.
